Who we are 

On the estate of Steenwijk, the nursing home of the congregation of the brothers of Tilburg stood until the mid-nineties. When the old monastery building no longer met the needs and the community became smaller, the brothers did something special in collaboration with various social partners.

The old monastery was extensively renovated and renamed ZIN. Since 2001 we have been the place for meaning and work in the Netherlands.

ZIN is a place where you as a person, professional, team, and organization can grow and develop in meaning and work. You learn to reflect on your deeper drives and regain inspiration and energy. At ZIN, you can practice a compassionate attitude towards life that benefits yourself and the world around you.

What we do

ZIN is an inspiring place for meetings and programs in the field of meaning and work. We have our own academy, the ZIN academy. With our training programs, we bring passion, inspiration, and meaning back to the workplace. 

Seeing, being moved, and getting into motion

Being engaged with meaning and work is the 'intention' of meaning.

Our estate, our monastery building, and our substantive programs and training are means to make this possible. At ZIN, you will find peace and space to reflect. From the original thinking of the Brothers, compassion plays an important role for us. We work, think, and train from the triad of compassion: seeing, being moved, and getting into motion.

For whom

People, professionals, teams, and organizations seeking peace, space, nature, connection, and contemplation are warmly welcome at ZIN to rent a space, stay, or follow a program from the ZIN academy. 

ZIN provides an excellent framework for programs from consultancy-training agencies, for team activities from companies and institutions, for inspiring meetings and gatherings. ZIN wants to invite other organizations to form a central point around the theme of meaning and work together.

The monastery rhythm
The atmosphere of monastic life is still palpable; it is a calming location where personal attention prevails and where the monastery rhythm is still active.

Besides the meditation sessions in the morning and afternoon, there is a labyrinth in the garden, and you can walk the silence poetry route. 

Socially engaged
ZIN is in solidarity with vulnerable groups. For example, our household is largely managed by colleagues with intellectual disabilities.

Sustainable
Our location is among the top of the most sustainable places in the Netherlands. Our kitchen works exclusively with organic products and sourcing takes place as locally as possible. We are Green Key Gold and EKO Gold (100%) certified.
