VRIJ is a special event location: a stylishly renovated monumental building located on Landgoed Anckerwaerdt by the dike in Culemborg. VRIJ stands for hospitality, for translating your wishes. No fixed formats. It’s your day, your event, meeting or party. You get to decide.

At VRIJ in Culemborg, you are always exclusive with your group. VRIJ is perfect for a carefree and relaxed gathering. Depending on the facilities you need as a trainer and trainee, you can come and go as you please. Even outside. A bit of team building or leadership training in the form of herding sheep is one of the possibilities. But also just ‘simply’ brainstorming with your feet in the grass.

Exclusive rental is not an extra option but standard. Our boardroom is of course equipped with all the modern means to ensure an efficient meeting.
The space is also very suitable for larger groups (up to 100 people theater style) or training sessions.

Before, during, or after the meeting, you can enjoy a lunch, dinner, or drinks downstairs in the atmospherically decorated 'deel'.
Then stretch your legs with a little walk around the estate or along the dike. Pure Dutch scenery guaranteed!

Are you with a smaller group or do you need break-out sessions? Then you can take a seat in the view room, which is named after the amazing view you have there. This room is also equipped with a pantry, presentation screen, and its own restroom.

Background Information
VRIJ in Culemborg is located on Landgoed Anckerwaerdt. The estate was a fruit farm without a successor until about twelve years ago. The Kroezen family has redeveloped the nine hectares into an NSW estate where VRIJ serves as the main building. The farm is still original, although the front house was rebuilt around 1850 after it burned down at that time. It is not known when Van de Deel (the former cow shed) was built, but it is estimated to be in the mid-18th century. Characteristic and also mood-defining are the Philibert trusses that have been beautifully highlighted with the help of the architectural firm TANK from Amsterdam.

Green, greener..
VRIJ is not only surrounded by greenery, it is also very green! The existing solar panels not only provide the building but also the geothermal system with solar energy. The geothermal system heats and cools the
building with – as the name suggests – geothermal energy. The organic vegetable garden largely supplies fresh vegetables and various measures have been taken within the company to minimize environmental impact.

Think of purified table water in our ‘VRIJ bottles’, which eliminates the need for transportation of still and sparkling water. In the restrooms, you won’t find paper towels or hand dryers, but small cotton towels that last for hundreds
of uses. VRIJ is well on its way to qualifying for a Green Key Gold certificate.
