About
On the balcony of this 17th-century hall church stands an impressive organ. At least, that's how it appears at first glance. But looks can be deceiving. Because the Protestant congregation of 's-Heerenhoek does not have the funds for a real organ. That is why they purchased a second-hand Vocalion in 1902. And a cleverly crafted imitation pipe front is placed in front of it. A Vocalion sounds almost the same as an organ, so it seems as if schoolmaster Pols is accompanying the psalms on a real organ. During the service, men and women sit separately. The men in the pews along the side walls, the women on chairs in the middle. The construction year of the pulpit is carved into the back panel: 1674. The atmosphere of the interior reflects the early 20th century.
