About
In this wonderfully colorful room, physics experiments were once carried out. The audience stood on the balcony surrounding the room, watching. Among other things, the famous gravity experiment was done here, by making a hole in the ceiling and letting an object fall through it. This was an attempt to measure gravity. Therefore, it may not surprise you that the Department of Physics was housed here in the past. But where does the Shaffyzaal get its name from? This is related to the memorable performances of the famous singer Ramses Shaffy, in collaboration with Liesbeth List and Freek de Jonge.
The Shaffyzaal is extremely suitable for performances, creative break-outs, parties, receptions, and dinners. With the windows around the room, a lot of daylight comes in, but they can also be completely darkened for a performance or party. Unique is the private reception area with a bar that has been created in the room with a large wall. There are also many expansion possibilities due to the balcony and the additional space behind it. The design, which has emerged from the creative Shaffy period, the technology, and acoustics are completely up-to-date and very innovative.
